Important Announcement

CALENDAR YEAR 2009
GRANT POLICY

History has proven that during trying times there can also be opportunity for positive change and advancement. Hutton Foundation has been fortunate in these critical economic times to have found two major opportunities for expansion of our core program of providing office and work space to nonprofits in our community. We have recently entered into a joint use agreement with the Carpinteria Unified School District for use of the former Main School Elementary building in Carpinteria. We are currently in the process of developing a collaborative nonprofit early childhood education and family resource center at this location. In addition, we also recently purchased an office building located in downtown Santa Barbara in which we plan to house multiple nonprofit performing arts and arts education agencies.

Both of these new projects are a great benefit currently and will be in the future to help sustain a large number of nonprofits in our community. In the short run, these new investments and the expenses associated with transforming these properties for nonprofit use will lessen Hutton Foundation’s ability to provide funding beyond this core program. Please understand that our total annual funding is not being reduced, just re-directed to help sustain existing nonprofits.

For these reasons, Hutton Foundation is suspending our Standard Grant Program for the calendar year 2009. This change in policy does not preclude an agency from applying to Hutton Foundation during the 2009 calendar year. We will have limited funds available for targeted general operating support focused on transitional and strategic sustainability programs. It is our intent to reinstate our Standard Grant Program in 2010.

Please contact Hutton Foundation for further instruction on how to apply for these targeted general operating funds.
